The Voice Of Climate Change In Africa

Our lives are intricately regulated, controlled and programmed by climate change. The air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink are all under the veneer of climatic conditions. Every facet of our lives is inexplicably connected to our climate's patterns.  Climate's patterns permeate every segment of our lives, just as gravity pervades physics and or science.

The climate without doubt has profound monumental benefits for mankind. However, the days of being unburdened by the resonances of pristine climate's patterns is fast fading. Moments of unblemished glory are increasingly becoming a nightmare secondary to some human activities.  The karmic principle (law of karma) seems to be catching up with our raggle-taggle activities as we live on ecological high-wires (ecosystem integrity is on diminishing returns). In a myriad of ways, climate change has taken a toll on continental Africa and the world.

According to Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is made up of more than 1,300 scientists from the United States and other countries, a temperature rise of 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century is foreseeable.  A rise in temperature means increase in atmospheric temperature or

a warmer atmosphere. This makes people uncomfortable as it catalyses the formation of smog which triggers asthmatic attacks or episodes.

Tropical storm has further deepened the woes of climate change on continental Africa.  Due to the indiscriminate cutting down of trees without replanting, each time there is a heavy storm, many roof tops are taken off by the wind..

Climate change poses an incalculable threat to food production / agriculture. "Where, how and when we grow food is directly connected to our climate's patterns. Worldwide farmers are trying to keep up with shifting weather patterns and increasingly unpredictable water supply ". Agriculture in Africa is mainly rain fed. In times of rain failure, farmers harvest next to nothing.. According to Oxfam, 12 million people in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia are in dire need of food as these countries are the worst hit by food crisis. The tide of destruction warps in the dim boundary of futuristic Africa and transcendental world..

More than ever, the climate needs our voice. Let's join SAF--Kenya, Gambia and the rest of the world with a common goal of improving the climatic tides by engaging in tree planting projects, avoid bush burning and any act that degrades the environment

Normal climatic patterns will improve, if we face the moral pantheon of reality of our time and inculcate the resolve to confront this disturbing issue.

Join SAF in its quest to make Africa a lively continent for all.

SAF, making Africa a better place now!
