The Plight Of Helpless Child
Distinguishing right from wrong, truth from lies, morality from amorality is all wrapped up in our innate capacities to use the moral compass of our conscience to direct us in life.
We all have conscience but most of us are so conditioned we have many layers of programming secondary to social DNA (sDNA) that prevent us from using it and listening to it. Hence, without a well functioning conscience to guide you, you will end up living immorally because you are not able to distinguish morality from amorality, right from wrong and this capacity deficiency is what causes the conscience to become so recessed.
To what do you owe this?
I woke up to a compendium of issues making headlines in Ghana and this was what my fecund mind could glean from the said headlines by way of mental note.
√ John Dumelo sexist comment
√ Chair of the Electoral Commission brouhaha
√ Rashida Black Beauty
Of utmost concern to me is Rashida Black Beauty... She has come under avalanche of criticisms and condemnations from a large segment of society. Nearly every commentator sought to condemn rather than profer remedies. The perennial curtain of hypocrisy with its acclimatizable "holier than thou " attitude is now the new language of adjectival consort. The most sensible post on this issue thus far, has come from Shary-han Naadaa Mustapha..
Well, what could be the possible diagnosis of Rashida Black?
Parents, Academe and Society.
Academe
Society
Weak or deficient parental care..Contemporary parents hardly have collateral time for their kids, to bring them up in a way that will stand up to moral judgement. Most of these kids are left in the care of house helps or maidservants who know next to nothing about parenting.
Dysfunctional homes / marriages also act as ampoule of enzymes to further catalyse the ugly obsessional character deficiencies.
Then, the growing culture of pretense among African parents that, educating their kids on sex is a taboo ,cannot be overlooked also.
The architectural moral decay of the academe is a contributory factor to what we are witnessing now. The old credo of discipline has fractured over the years. The augmented truth that greets us is, "academic " giants with moral and character deficiencies and or hopeless cogs striving to find their individualised niche in an era brimming with an orgy of amorality.
Sadly enough, some of the teachers and lecturers who are supposed to enforce discipline and impact or hit morality into the consciousness of these people are equally suffering from moral deficiencies as they are into illicit affairs with some students. How can one give what he doesn't have?
Our society of today is different from the one of yesteryears. Gone were the days when someone's kid was everyone's child. Today, you dare not correct Mr/ Mrs A child. Try it and you will have yourself court-martialled by the supposed parents of the child.. So everyone looks on whiles the daily oddity of the day stares us in the face. The churches and mosques are failing us in their religious duty. Many churches of today would rather please their congregation with soothing lies than the bitter pill of truth telling.. Moral and character formation..
I was surprised at how some people craved to sate their erotic affinity with Rashida's video. To those sharing and viewing the video that went viral, will you do same if she was your kid sister or daughter? How different are you from those promoting it? Paradoxically, you are the reason why the global pathology of this oddity (leaked videos) exists.
I'm sure in our next world, the heavenly court will not ask us how many people we have condemned but how many lives we have transformed positively. Let's not condemn Rashida but help her out. She needs help, not condemnations.... And, yes we all need help variedly! Thank you and stay blessed.... May God see us through to the end.
